街上的诗

图:poem by the canal, Elwood

When I was a small boy, t
here used to be a tram that ran from Elsternwick Station and Port Ormond right past our house.

The drivers would let me take charge of the tram for last 400 yards.

I used to plead with each driver to let me change the pole of one driver.

A bit of joker, eventually relented.

I was a skinny little fellow, so I got swept into the air, swinging back and forth.

I begged the driver to let me down but he just sat there roaring with laughter.
